Friends of New Orleans is a private, non-profit, non-partisan, membership organization for people in the U.S. and abroad who care about this region. Our mission is to advocate for New Orleans and its surrounding parishes, inform people of those key issues that are shaping the national debate and decision making of the rebuilding effort, link individuals who want to help with the communities in the devastated areas, and motivate people to take part in the rebuilding effort. LOUISIANA FILMMAKERS
For the 2nd year, the Big Easy Film Festivals will be offering 2 Festival Scholarships to the top Louisiana filmmakers screening at this year's festival.
The Festival Scholarships are made up of a combination of aid with submission fees to other festival as well as advice on which festivals the filmmakers should submit their films to... Check back for more details!
The Big Easy Film Festivals are the sister fests to the Beverly Hills Shorts Festival. With over 12,000 short films and 5000 feature films made every year, filmmakers need venues to reach an audience... And there is no better audience than New Orleans.
What's our connection to New Orleans? Our Festival Co-Director Laura Raitman Martone was born and raised in New Orleans... Katrina took her Father's house, her Mother's house, and her Grandmother's house. We started the Big Easy Shorts Festival to give something back to the city that she loves so much... we're giving the city some of the best films in the world... and we're devoting our resources to help New Orleans and rest of the Gulf Coast protect itself against future acts of nature while supporting indie film in the region.
Watch some great films, help a good cause, and experience the one and only Big Easy!
